Will our life improve due to genetic research?

In my opinion I think that the genetic research will be a very important issue in a future. But it brings problems, because nowadays there are a lot of different opinions.
In one hand there are the people who think that it is very important and necessary, because with it we can find the solutions about a lot of illness that nowadays haven't got a treatment, and we can find the solutions for more problems that affect over the world, too. For example the hunger in the world with the GM food.
In the other hand there are the people who think that the genetic research only will bring problems, like new species of animals or plants. They think that the genetic research is like playing to be the God. And this isn't a good idea because the humans haven't got enough power to do it.
I'm not against with the genetic research if we know the limits of it.
